Recovering from McAfee installation error 12152

This is a common download problem for McAfee Antivirus installation and is characterized by a failed download or mostly a slow download process which does not complete. The download is characteristically identified when the following message appears, “Unable to Continue Installation” and often “Something went wrong with the Installation”. The software should be always downloaded from www.McAfee.com/install.



Probable causes for the problem

The error code 12152 generally is indicative towards a common internet connectivity error which arises due to a slow network processing or unusually slow internet connection. The slow internet connection generally causes the network to disconnect owing to which the download process goes slower with time and terminates itself. 

Rectification of the Error

Solution 1: The error in the download process is mostly causes due to the third party software which is not compatible with McAfee. It is necessary to uninstall any programme which is tentatively blocking McAfee installation, which can include Firewall Software, any previously installed antivirus software or any other incompatible solution.

The virtual assistant from McAfee support can also be used for trouble-shooting the error. 

Solution 2: 

This step includes resetting the Internet Explorer defaults

• The user needs to open Internet Explorer and click on “tools”

• Then the user must click on “Internet Options” and click on the “Connection” tab

• The user then needs to select “LAN Settings”

• The user must deselect “Use proxy server for your LAN” option. In case if it is deselected already, then the user can leave it as it is. 

• After that the user needs to click on “OK” followed by clicking on the “Advanced” tab

• After that the user must select “Reset”. 

Once the aforementioned steps have been performed, the user can try to re-install the antivirus programme and this time it should properly install as well.
